Road Rockets

By: Norman

So the story goes: This guy, Hartmut Bubenzer, a 35 year old motorcycle riding artist, is looking thru some junkyard for some metal scraps to use in his art and stuff. He stumbles upon some empty U.S.A. napalm bomb casings(cool find!). They had been constructed in the Netherlands but never filled/ loaded with the nasty napalm stuff. At first, Hartmut didn't want to do anything with them but later decided that the one-time potential bombs needed some kind of "personal reaction" too.

He first constructed some space age living room furniture out of the casings: table, chairs, a very cool bar etc... Later, being a motorcyclist himself (some 20+ years), he thought that instead of just sitting on the bombs what about sitting in the bombs, and instead of the bombs flying thru space, what about the bombs flying thru the countryside??? Thus came the Road Rocket. "I wanted to create a symbolic road rocket to show another way of disarmarment, and therefore I chose a an East German motorbike, the MZ TS250 as it was also used in the communist army there, tounite it with the capitalist bomb... The synthesis is perfect, it is comfortable, very aerodynamic, has a large room for luggage and riding is pure fun."

Hartmut has already made about 15 of these rocket cars and has plans for another 10. He sent us many, many pictures of his bomb creations most of which involved the MZ and the bomb although there was one very nice rigid HD with a bombcar.
